The City of Alexandria Commuter Challenge is a friendly competition between Alexandria Employers that encourages all forms of alternative transportation: walking, biking, carpooling/vanpooling, bus, train, trolley and teleworking.
The Challenge runs from April 1 - April 12 and employees of participating companies will record a daily commute log online. Employees will have an opportunity to win a prize during the Challenge and three Employer Grand Prizes will be awarded at the conclusion of the Challenge.

Companies will compete for one of three Grand Prizes. Winners will be announced during the City of Alexandria Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Ben Brenman Park.

Highest Percentage Employee Participation
Employees have the opportunity to win one of 100 fun prizes if they keep their Commute Log current and take at least one commute trip per week using alternative transportation. Prizes include Commuter Challenge Long Sleeve T-Shirts, SmarTrip Cards and Gift Cards to Artfully Chocolate Food & Fizz Bar, Bugsy's Pizza Restaurant & Sports Bar, Del Ray Pizzeria & The Dairy Godmother Frozen Custard & Nostalgic Treats.
Best Daily Commute Post
Employees are encouraged to post their commute updates (or photo) on Facebook and Twitter. Post frequently for a chance to win a Commuter Challenge Long Sleeve T-Shirt. Each day, one Challenger will be selected at random for the "Best Daily Commute Post."
